I’m not the kind of girl who always holds a book in arms or dives into books in breaks. I sometimes even read books after finding its movie interesting since I think the stories that are adapted into movies are definitely those having captivating plots. Also, I do not specifically read books with deep or meaningful implications, instead, I especially LOVE horror stories or plot-driven stories. In other words, I love interesting stories with twists and turns. Therefore, I’ll share some books which still remain vividly in my mind through time. 💁(Probably two books only because I found I couldn't finish all of them. Others maybe next time if I got the chance...💅😟) p.s. to capitalize REST is because I think the best time to read is when not having any time pressure which means to be resting
1.A List of Cages
Julian and Adam used to be foster brothers and they met each other at high school a few years later. Time passed and Adam started to discover the fact that Julian has been both physically and mentally abused by his guardian for a long time. The more I look into the story, I found even more interesting because I can feel something in the story is getting worse. And, indeed, the thoughts came true. I dropped tears after reading more and finding out the follow-up development of Julian. To the junior high school me, I couldn't make a prediction of the upcoming plot so it was definitely a heart-breaking story to me then. However, reading the process of how Adam slowly rescued Julian is another heart-warming one. Adam is a popular boy among students, and everyone around can be cheered by him. Not to mention this bruised-over(both physically and mentally) boy, Julian. With only a small suitcase carrying his deceased mother's possessions to support him, I couldn't imagine how one can survive in this brutal world.
If possible, I really wish to become someone like Adam, bringing joy, happiness, and HOPE to those overwhelmed and drowning in pain.
2.And the Mountains Echoed (introducing probably the second part only)
Every year, winter kills someone's baby, and a monster will come and snatch a kid away. This year, a father is chosen and had to give out his favorite child. Time goes by, and this father found he could not live without his child and decided to go on a journey for him. The monster was impressed by the father and decided to let him see his child when he found out his child could not see him. Much to my surprise, actually the child and the kids that were stolen were given a wonderful life. A life that's way much better than being in the village where the kids used to live in. The kids were happy and healthy in the field despite the fact that they had forgotten everything behind. The most cruel decision for a father is for him to choose between--take his beloved child back to their poor life before, or to stay in the place and have a happy ever after without the memories and love they created.
This is a long story which I could not write in detail or to explain clearly. It's a devastated story with a bittersweet ending. It definitely isn't for those wishing to see a happy ending, but for those looking for hope in the details. The connection across time and generation in the story lies pain. However, to look for the glimpse of love behind through facing the struggles and decisions is the warmest part in the story. I think I could not bare a decision like this. To choose between the happiness of my beloved one or the love and memories we had gone through. Maybe the best result for the broken family is to forget everything about their tough but joyful past.
murmur: I found myself saying that I don't often read stories with deep implications when I found out the two books I recommended are both about really meaningful stories...
I can definitely relate to you because I sometimes (or basically every time) read the book after watching its movie, lmao. I’m very interested in both books you introduced, but I’m especially curious about the second one. The story seems very sad. I was wondering, did you cry when you read the second book?

That’s very cool because I read the first book before, (but I didn’t cry for thebook) I think the author also wants to convey the meaning of friendship, trauma, and resilience as Adam discovers Julian’s struggles with abuse under his uncle’s guardianship. This serves as a reminder of the impact of connections. If I can, I will also want to be a guy like Adam who can bring much of joy and fun, and even do my best to eliminate all the tragedy around me or my friends
回覆刪除I can't imagine you walking on the road with books... 😓Are you starting to pretend to be a literary girl now??? Thank you for your recommendation, but I won't read books (I think I have dyslexia.) I hope you can introduce a topic that I can participate in next time, such as introducing people who are good at volleyball (ur bae🫰🏻)💃🏐🤵🏻I will reply to you warmly!
